Anyway, I'm trying to be kinder to myself when I draw/ink on paper. It's not something I do very often, and it is just a DIFFERENT SKILL to drawing on a computer. It's definitely a lot less forgiving, but more enjoyable I find. I would like to get to the point of being comfortable enough to draw a full comic on paper, but it'll be a long term plan :P
Great exercise is to draw a couple of poses with the mannikin from your imagination, and then draw characters on top.
Cleaning up my files, and stumbled on these doodles I did while I was working on a. show called "Emerald".
I ...don't know how to draw cars! Who does right? :D See like a sucker I used to work from 1 or 2 images and try to work out what the car looks like from different angles....but now...we have SketchFab! I've mentioned it before, and I really love this easy access resource, I am sharing it again:

You can turn the model in the browser, so no need to download anything! How great is that! I would still always say to be careful when using reference, because you can easily get too realistic and use the gestural energy that should be in a board. Usually I draw a few angles "to study" the shape (like above). And then I'll draw it from memory.
Today's random character is based on the idea of Tehanu (Therru), a character in the fourth book of The Earthsea novels by Le Guin. She is described to have heavy disfigurement from burns, including a hand that is more of a stomp. I have an immediate love for these type of characters, the freaks and outcasts of the world. I got the image in my head of her eye being on the outside of her head, it's mostly shut but when it opens, she truly looks a bit like a (cute)monster, I imagine that's when she could use her magic.
