I found this browsing through some old work. This was an animation test for Scoobie Doo done in Flash. Really wish I could've worked on this.

RUNCYCLE FIRST ROUGH PASS
Current Pass:
- there's a pop between the finish and start
- the body shrinks and stretches badly
- needs overall smoothening, but ok for a rough pass I think.
This was the pass before:
- I fixed the front legs so it looks more like she's leaping forward, instead of whatever was happening below :P

Randy Cunningham: Living in Shooblivion
I'm usually too busy these days to post up gifs, but here's a few scenes from Randy Season 02: Living_in_Shooblivion
That show looked cool.

Randy Cunningham: When Randy Met Howie
Here are some screenshots and GIFs of my shots on the episode 'When Randy met Howie'.
There was no previous animation done with this character, so apart from a modelsheet, I had free reign with the design of the poses and expressions, really loved this episode!
Voice actor: Patrick Warburton (Brock Samson, Kronk)! Yeah, that's awesome!
Animation Software: Flash

Randy Cunningham S02 E11 Scenes
A couple of scenes for episode 11. Special shout out to the amazing Kim Arndt (who boarded these scenes brilliantly).
Randy Cunningham - S02 E07 Scenes
I recently created a new tumblr (LINK)(yes even more new than the one I created 2 weeks ago :P). My tumblr will be more filtered, meaning I'll just post up stuff I consider good at the time of posting, while I will continue to post everything on my blogs including bad drawings, failed ideas. step by steps, studies and research.
On that note I am posting up a couple of scenes of some of the aired episodes. This episode was the episode where the lightbulb went on for me. Things started to make sense, and from here on out I really started to grow episode by episode but I still feel like I'm at the bottom of a really huge mountain! :D
This last shot is not particularly awesomely animated but the fx by Deirdre Behan make it gif worthy! :P

She-Hulk Part 4: Clean Lines & Color Flats
So this 1 day exercise ended up taking far too long (nearly a week now), but it was great to test out a workflow in ToonBoom for handdrawn animation.
1) Clean Up: Hard Lesson Learned
It kind of fell apart at the clean up process though. For clean up (to save time) I cleaned up straight ahead from frame 1 to 16 only referencing the previous drawing, that was ok for the main body since I had clean, on model shapes to work from. My secondary action however (the jacket, hair, etc..) was very rough and only suggestive of the movement. I think I could've either cleaned up those shapes first, or I should've done my clean up by doing the keys first, breakdowns and finally inbetweens.
If you look at the animation you'll see there are problems with the hair, jacket, sleeve and her chest...biggest problem being the distance between the jacket sleeve and her hand, so I might fix that up at some stage.
So I'm kind of thinking that clean up should be a trace of the animation, and not really a stage of the process where you can still tidy up animation. I could go and fix this stuff, but I'm kind of tired of looking at this and I'll just take what I learned and apply it to my next animation....an easier design would definitely help!

Richard Williams: 6 frame run
Don't know how long I'll continue with my quest to post EVERYTHING!
I watched Ernest & Celestine this evening which was a really amazing little French film. All animated in flash, but made to look like a childrens' illustration book come to life. Really excellent all round!
I had some time to kill so I dived a bit into Richard Williams, read some notes about runs with the minimal amount of frames, so tried to do a quick little one to see what it looks like. The gif below is 6 drawings on 2's (so 3 drawings per stride). The problem is that doing a "quick" animation study is a bit of a contradiction. Animation is time consuming and precise, unlike my doodle :D

Randy Cunningham Scenes
I saved the scenes I worked on for both episodes of season 1 to my youtube account. It's not that I'll be using it for a showreel, but I want to be able to look back through my work and see the progress. I can only hope that I get more work after my contract ends, otherwise this will be a memory of a short lived animation career ;)
These are scenes from Episode 49, which was the first episode I worked on. Props to the BG and Comp department for really bringing this to life!
The following sequence is from episode 52 (the season finale), which is actually less good than my first episode :P One of the reasons is that the original ninja & Plop Plop were new characters, so there was not a lot of reference to go by. Was also the first time animating the ninja for me (little did I know he would be my favorite character to work on later :D). I didn't really have the confidence to push things further at the time. This sequence was a full minute of animation done in 3 weeks. So I am actually just really glad I managed to finish it all in time!

Randy Cunningham Animation Preview
So I was looking for some footage of the season finale of Randy Cunningham, and I stumbled on a preview that has...my crappy animation. Ouch! And Hurray! At least I can show some people finally what I've been doing (even though, it reminds me of the journey that lies ahead in becoming a decent animator!).
Still, this is the BEST job EVER! Here's the link to the article with the video: http://family-room.ew.com/2014/02/06/joel-mchale-9th-grade-ninja-exclusive/
Props to the awesome people that make this possible at Boulder, Titmouse and Disney. The background artists, and fantastic treatment in After Effects really make this pop (together with the most excellent voicecast).

Rough Flash Animation
I wanted to warm up a bit, and instead of sketching in my sketchpad I wanted to do a really quick animation in Flash. Can't say I'll be doing that again :P It's better to spend double the time and actually get something halfdecent, but it served it's purpose..I was warmed up and ready for work!

Animation : Work in Progress
OK, so phase 2 of the scene is to get the character on model and start the clean up. There will be a second pass on the clean up where I'll work on the head and secondary actions.

Tutorial Time: Handdrawn animation in Flash + Paint + Composition in Aftereffects
Stumbled on some great tutorials that show you how to go about doing handdrawn animation in Flash, paint your lineart in flash and finally composite in aftereffects (add shadow, background and layering).
I did not create these tutorials, I am just sharing these because they are useful, for more info check out their website: http://base14.com/blog/
1) Handdrawn animation in Flash:
This is the exact same process I use for my animations (except that I am a better animator - I kid...not really :P)
2) Paint your Lineart in Flash
This is not how I work, I actually take an extra step where I clean up my lineart in Photoshop, and paint in Photoshop. But it's a nice tutorial nonetheless:
3) Aftereffects
This was most useful to me, this is how to import your linework into Aftereffects, apply a shadow and use layering effects for extra depth.

Test Scene: Rough Animation
I went to sleep at 2am and I couldn't fall asleep...what the hell! So I got up, made a tea and started animating! So I kinda finished the very rough animation for the test scene I am doing.
It'll be a pain in the butt to clean this up and get all characters on model, but at least I think the timing is working. I could make it easy on myself and do the clean up in Photoshop but I will do it in Flash to improve my drawing skills in that cursed program :P
Also did some sort of "clean up" drawing flash, what I really want though is to have a line that feels sketchy (pencil) but still clean enough to look good on screen.
