Storyboard Pro TIPS

 Somebody at work shared this video with us, this has some great timesaver tips.  Most of it I knew, but I am just too lazy usually to remember where I found it. So that's why I'm posting it here for reference:

Random scene from Carrie. This time I drew the background with pigment liner to avoid the ink rubbing all over the page. I'm still out of markers for shading :/

 This is really a stretch of my patience doing these wide shots with backgrounds and multiple characters, but it's good practice so I hope I can keep it up.

So here. The number one downfall of traditional inks! If you are impatient like me and you don't wait until the ink is dry before using the eraser :D Smudgeeeee

I couldn't motivate myself to copy more drawings from Akira, I thought there is more to learn from working from a film instead. I picked a shot from De Palma's Dressed to Kill. 

Note to self: If the lens is distorted and curves the lines, just straighten it out so you can use a ruler :P

I always question if a copy is worth doing if you only do it half assed. But I think there is.
I definitely have to say that if you are looking to practice perspective or cinematic staging, Katsuhiro Otomo is your man! The problem is that if you want to do it properly you'd be spending A. LOT of time per panel, getting all the details in there. My time is limited, so shoddy copies here we go!

The shot below has 4 perspective points, but in some way it's also another 1 point perspective:

That last page, I included the insert panels, because they create a sense of time. I can hear the clip falling in that top right one, and then the trouser being pulled up to reveal the extra clip in the next.
