Gran Character Inks

It's always a bad idea to ink a terrible sketch, but I didn't it anyway and it turned out better than I thought :P

So I worked the same as in my Daredevil Study
1 - Just ink the thin lines with a nib. One thing I heard about the greats is that they keep drawing in inks. So instead of tracing, keep working pin your drawing. It's scary to make a mistake perhaps? But I think in the long run it will make you more confident.
2: Get out the brush and add some line weight and black fills.

3 : Set the timer (15 mins) and let it cook before erasing your pencils :D

Character Inks

Not happy with the face, but good practice.

Character Sketch

So I really don't know my characters well enough to draw loosely in pencil and figure it out in inks :P

If it was digital I could've redrawn it, but in this case, we'll just file it in the concept folder :D

Ink Study 04 + process

Last panel I did, and my favourite one. Just a really well composed shot. (Daredevil - Gene Colan)

By this point I also figured out a process for inking:

Step 1: Ink everything with your thin line (in this case I used a pen nib)

Step 2: Pull out your brush and start filling it out with black fills and adding line weight.

Step 3: Set a timer for 10-15 minutes and erase your pencil lines. I'm always so impatient but it is the most fulfilling step for me :D

Ink Study 03

Study of Daredevil comic by Gene Colan.

Ink Study 02

The original comic from Daredevil by Gene Colan.

Ink Study 01

These are quite terrible, but practice makes perfect :P The original comic from Daredevil by Gene Colan.

Daredevil Studies

These are some drawings from Daredevil by Gene Colan. Look him up, he's a great artist from the olden days, some really solid figure work and likes to use a lot of shadows.

Comic Project : Character Art - Older Woman

Not sure I feel this character yet, but moving along.

Comic Project : Character Art - Mysterious Woman

So I'm using an older design that I didn't use for anything as an extra character in this comic project. It's just a concept, but gotta keep moving. 2 more characters to get through :D

Comic Project : Character Art - Iguana

Here's a sheet with the Iguana, still in concept phase. I thought I could get by drawing it without understanding Iguana anatomy but I will definitely need to figure out how the arms work :P

The poses at the bottom are more simplified which is probably what I'll stick to.

Some grey tone:

Comic Project : Character Art - Main Character

Another try at the character, at least getting out some terrible drawing before starting the comic :P

Comic Project : Character Art

I don't really like this design / style yet. But here was an attempt at making something like a character sheet for one of the characters.

Comic Project: Character Concepts

I'm coming up with my concepts in sketchbooks, so these are pretty rough as I make my decisions with biro :P I'm not even sure at this point if it will be more serious or more lighthearted, All I know is that I have a teen girl, younger brother (or sister), a pet Iguana and an old lady that repairs and paints custom skateboards for kids in the neighbourhood.

Below some quick and dirty Iguana studies, but I decided that I don't care that much about being realistic, it's just a jumping off point.

Initial monster drawing, going to need to study batwings to see how to develop this further.

and a random one :P
